At any given time there are millions of Americans on a diet or trying to lose weight. With all of the options available it can be confusing and difficult to decide which program is right for you. I’m here to make the process a little easier and help you determine which weight loss program would be right for you.
The right program for you depends on a lot of different factors like how much weight you have to lose, your gender, how old you are, how in shape you are, and how dramatic of a lifestyle change you are willing to make. It is important to weigh your options and consider everything that is out there.
Any program that is focused on you burning more calories than you consume is going to work and you will lose weight. However, most weight loss programs have different methods of getting you motivated and getting you to shed the pounds.

There are some rules on choosing a weight loss program that just can’t be overlooked or skipped. The first question you should always ask is ‘is it safe’? Before starting a program you should do thorough research. If you are looking for a weight loss program, you should only be looking at ones that are safe for you. Programs that are controversial or contain serious calorie restrictions or starvation methods should be blacklisted immediately.
A lot of weight loss programs are not regulated by any type of entity, or their supplements are not FDA approved. Even if you have a friend or relative that swears by it, you should still do your research to determine if the program is safe enough for you. This doesn’t mean that just because it isn’t FDA approved that it isn’t safe. You should just actively practice caution.
The second requirement that should be sought out is a program that promotes a healthy rate of weight loss. Diets and programs that claim to help you shed 20 pounds in 3 days are either bogus or dangerous. Weight loss programs should promise a healthy rate of loss of about 1-2 pounds per week.
How It Can Fit Into Your Life
Before you jump into any weight loss program, you should determine how it going to affect you, and if it is even possible incorporating into your current lifestyle. You should also think about whether or not you are willing to make a dramatic lifestyle change to fit a new program into your life.
Some weight loss programs don’t require a huge time commitment or allow you to ease into it. If this is the route you are wanting to take, there are a lot of options. If you can’t commit to a lifestyle overhaul, you should consider programs that focus on lowering caloric intake, portion control, and exercising a few times a week. Once you are used to one of these programs, it would then be a lot easier to try a more complicated program.
If you are up for changing everything about your lifestyle, complicated and detailed programs may be for you. These programs typically involve a complete change in your diet, nutrition, and cooking habits. You would have to throw out all your current food and go on a grocery shopping trip. You would need to have a large time commitment for exercise, usually 6 days a week for 2+ hours. If you have the time and dedication to commit to one of these more aggressive programs, you will lose weight faster.
Facts to Know
When trying to find your ideal weight loss program, there are a few essential and important facts that you should know before you start. You should always research:

● how many people have experienced side effects
● what the average weight loss is, and if it is in a healthy range
● what the food options/nutrition/diet are
● how long the program is
Incorporating Long-term
Regardless of whichever program you choose, you should realize that weight loss programs should be used as tools to get you motivated and on the track to a healthier lifestyle. These programs should be used to point you in the right direction so you can understand how to incorporate the teachings and practice into your daily life.
You shouldn’t be on a weight loss program for the rest of your life. You should be able to take what you have learned with the program, apply it to your daily life, and eventually your daily routine of eating healthy and exercising will become the new normal without even having to follow a program.
