What a Regular Menstrual Cycle Says About Your Health
The monthly visitor all women get at some point has lovingly been referred to as ‘the red monster’, ‘the curse’, and ‘Mother Nature’s revenge’. In most ways, periods are no fun for anybody, and most women can’t wait for them to be over.
The truth is, that while they are uncomfortable and sometimes really painful, your menstrual cycle can be beneficial and has its own advantages.
Having a regular menstrual period lets you know that your sexual organs and hormones are healthy and in check. A regular period can tell you about your overall health and let you plan for certain things such as your sex life or pregnancy planning.

When you have a regular period this says that your hormone levels are fine and regulated. This is good because when hormones are imbalanced it can lead to weight gain, moodiness, acne, fatigue, increased cramping and pain, and problems getting pregnant. When your hormone levels are right, you will experience a regular sex drive, increased energy, and a generally good overall mood.
A regular period can keep you from getting fat or gaining excessive weight. A regular menstrual cycle prevents the body from creating an excess of estrogen. When a woman’s body has a hormonal imbalance of too much estrogen, the body does not burn fat as it normally would and retains fat, especially around the waist and middle.
Regular periods are a sign of a healthy thyroid. This is good news because the thyroid is in charge of controlling your metabolism as well as other cell functions in the body. If your thyroid was acting up you could experience weight gain, fatigue, and depression.
If you have a regular menstrual cycle, it can tell you about the health of the above as well as your bones, organs, and your adrenal glands.
Having a regular period is one of the most important aspects of trying to conceive. Any woman who has an irregular period will have a more difficult time trying to pinpoint the exact days when conception is most likely. This is made much easier, almost an exact science, for women with a regular period.
Women with regular menstrual cycles can also pin down the days in which they will be most interested in sex and have the highest sex drives, which is important for conception as well as relationships in general.
Women that have regular periods have also been shown to have overall better moods than women that are irregular. They also do not suffer from as bad of PMS symptoms as irregular women do. Women that are regular have been proven to have increased energy on the days leading up to their period, which allows for higher intensity workouts that last longer.
There are so many things a regular period can show women about their health and sexual organ function. If you have a regular period you should learn to embrace it, you are a healthy woman.
